On a bitter cold day on South Broadway, Catherine McHenry got on the phone to help a man who came in from the snow find information about Giving Heart, a homeless-services center just a few blocks south.

That’s often the job at HOPE food pantry, a staple of hunger assistance in Englewood: helping someone, or helping them find help.

“I can’t think of a day that goes by when someone doesn’t come off the streets, or a family living in a car, who doesn’t need clothes or blankets,” said McHenry, operations director at HOPE.

After 12 years of serving, HOPE will be closing our doors at this location on February 28th. We will move to focus our energy towards financial support of other food pantries in the area. We are no longer accepting donations after January 31st.

The final food pantry day is February 22nd

A mural dedication for HOPE Pantry Food Bank Attic Thrift Store was more than just a dedication July 7 or an unveiling of a creative work of art by Catherine Pistone. It was taking a blank wall and making it an artistic beacon of hope for everyone.

Pistone’s mural can been seen southbound on Broadway, a half-mile south of Hampden at 3940 S. Broadway.

To our fabulous band, A Band Named Sue, and their incredible lead singer, Sue Baldwin, for making us smile, dance and stand in ovation all afternoon!And most of all, to all of the wonderful friends, family and supporters of HOPE who provided the magic and love!

The Englewood USPS office has graciously dedicated this year’s Stamp It Out Food Drive on May 12th to HOPE for the second year in a row. Last year the results were a staggering 16,473 lbs of food!!! We are so grateful to these wonderful men and women for their service to our communities and for helping HOPE bring hunger relief to those who are in need.
